Kopenov Edil Kudaibergenovich was born in 1970 in the Almaty region.
He graduated from Abai Kazakh Pedagogical University in 1994 with a degree in History, in 2002 from D.A. Kunaev University with a degree in Finance and Credit, and in 2011 from S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University with a degree in Electric Power Engineering.
He started his career in 1992 as a manager of the commercial department, then as a commercial director of the company "Asiatorgservice".
Over the years , he held senior positions in power supply and power grid and energy - producing organizations: JSC "Taldykorgan RES", JSC "Ushtobinsky RES", JSC "Taldykorgan Joint-Stock Transport Electric Grid Company", LLP "Astanaenergosbyt", LLP "SevKazEnergo Petropavlovsk", LLP "North Kazakhstan Power Center", JSC "Akmola Distribution Electric Grid Company", JSC "SEVKAZENERGO", LLP "Astana-ERC",
In the period from 2016 to 2021 - Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Kazakhstan Electric Energy and Capacity Market Operator (KOREM)", then Managing Director for Business Transformation, Member of the Management Board of JSC "Samruk-Energo".
